For some reason every Memorial Day weekend we end up working our butts off on some project around our house.  This time it was the backyard.  Monkey has been begging for his friends to come over for a play date so I finally gave in.  We were able to use some things from the garage that were pretty much wasting space, I liked that because I’m not exactly looking forward to tackiling the mess that is the garage.  Big Daddy liked the weekend project because it has left him with WAY less backyard to mow and it wasn’t big to begin with.

For the most part this is what it looks like now.  This was pre mowing and getting the extra wood moved out of the yard.  The smaller square is the sandbox.  It’s 5*5 and the kids pretty much laid in it most of the day.  I want to get one of those gazebo thingamabobs to shade it.  Princess P has fair skin like me and she will end up a lobster if we don’t.  The square around the playset is huge, way bigger then we thought.  You are looking at 25 bags of mulch.  We might have single handedly taken out a small forest and I’m feeling really guilty about that but I would feel worse if someone hurt themselves in my backyard.

On the other side of the playset and next to the sandbox I think we will plant some bushes and flowers.  It’s going to be a pain to get the lawn mower over there and I think it will help pretty up the yard.
